This is an ongoing situation and thanks to information received and feedback, this page is intended to provide you with the latest News & Updates.
---------------------------------------
Pubs - Closed: Day 1 - 'The Engine' Baldock Having only reopened months before, The Engine in Station Road shut down in May 2024 and now it has been put on the market by Savills 'as price on application'.
Pubs - Reopened: Day 5 - 'The Hoops' Perry Green Recently and acquired by locally owned Windhill Investments, The Hoops will be refreshed, up and running in early 2026. They are keen to keep its quiet, country charm - loved by locals, walkers, equestrians, and visitors to the Henry Moore Foundation alike - at the heart of its refurbishment, but with a new kitchen for the chef, improved facilities, and an indoor/outdoor dining area to be enjoyed in any season. Temporarily Closed More Info
Day 6 - 'Jolly Sailors' Buntingford Reopened in October 2024 as a Devran Shish Grill Lounge Bar. Appears to be more of a Restaurant rather than a Pub. More Info
Points of Interest: Day 3 - Tumulus-Roman barrow and Bronze Age bowl (Graffridge Wood) Due to a large amount of undergrowth and trees obscuring it, this barrow had been hard to find, see and identify. As of November 2025 a great deal of work has been undertaken to clear the site (and that of the other barrow - Bell Barrow).
